A short-bed pickup is the hardest truck to load a motorcycle into. The bed is too short for a ramp with a safe loading angle, the loading height is high, and a long ramp sticks out over the tailgate. Neo-Dyne makes two powered ramps specifically for short beds: the folding AUN 250 and the AUN 150 "Hybrid". Both lift motorcycles of up to 550 kg (1,200 lbs) with a standard cordless drill, so you can load a heavy bike on your own.
With a regular aluminium ramp you push the motorcycle up by hand. On a short-bed pickup that ramp is either too short, which makes the angle far too steep for a heavy bike, or too long, so it sticks out over the tailgate and the tailgate has to stay open. Add the high loading height of most pickups and lifted 4x4s, and loading a bagger or touring bike on your own becomes a real risk for you and your motorcycle.
The AUN 250 is the most advanced model in the AUN range and the only one that lets you close the tailgate without removing the ramp. The base ramp is cut to the exact length of your cargo bed, and the tilt ramp folds up once the motorcycle is unloaded. Unload, fold and close the tailgate in less than a minute: your truck is ready for everyday use while the ramp stays on board for the next ride. The folding design is patented (NL 1044643; EU and US patents pending).
The AUN 150 combines the short base ramp of the AUN 110 with the long tilt ramp of the AUN 210. The long tilt ramp keeps the loading angle gentle, and the motorcycle can even be longer than the bed with the tailgate down, without overhang and without unnecessary load on the tailgate. It is a favourite with owners of trucks like the Jeep Gladiator and crew-cab Ford Raptors.
No pushing uphill. You roll the front wheel into the wheel chock while the ramp is tilted down to the ground, strap the motorcycle in and let the ramp do the lifting.
Cordless drill, no wiring. A standard 18V cordless drill with 120 Nm of torque in the lowest gear drives a self-locking worm drive. Nothing is wired to your vehicle battery, and when you stop, the load stays exactly where it is. Never use an impact driver or hammer drill, as they will damage the worm drive.
PowerTilt. The ramp tilts to horizontal while it is still outside the truck, so the motorcycle is level before it rolls in.
No drilling in your truck. With the AC-012 boltless attachment kit and standard ratchet straps on the tie-downs of your cargo bed, you install or remove the ramp in minutes.
Higher trucks. Both ramps load up to a loading height of 900 mm (35"). For lifted trucks and 4x4s, the AC-001 extender raises that to 1300 mm (51"), or higher with a longer custom extender.
Step by step, with a checklist and tips: read our guide how to load a heavy motorcycle on your own.
Will the ramp fit my short-bed truck?
Both ramps are cut to the length of your cargo bed, so they fit most short-bed and crew-cab pickups. For a recommendation for your exact truck and motorcycle, use the Ramp Selector or contact our team.
AUN 250 or AUN 150?
Choose the AUN 250 if you want to close the tailgate with the ramp inside the truck. Choose the AUN 150 for a short bed with a high loading height, where the tailgate can stay down while you drive.
Which motorcycles can I load?
Any motorcycle up to 550 kg / 1,200 lbs with a wheelbase up to 2000 mm (79") and a rear tire up to 300 mm wide, from sport bikes to heavy baggers and touring bikes.
Do I need to install a battery or wiring?
No. The ramp is operated with a standard 18V cordless drill, so there is no wiring, no extra battery and no hydraulic pump to install in your truck.
Where can I buy the AUN 250 or AUN 150?
Neo-Dyne ramps are sold through authorized dealers worldwide. Find the dealer for your region on our dealers page, or request a quote and we will put you in touch.
My motorcycle weighs less than 300 kg. Is there a cheaper option?
Yes. The Alien Ramp is an interesting, budget-friendly alternative at about half the price of an AUN, with a maximum load of 300 kg (660 lbs). Prices and more information, including which vehicles it fits, at www.alienramp.com.
